Surgeons typically strive to save lives, so what happens when one finds out she might’ve accidentally killed someone — and a child, no less?
That’s the question at issue in The Spot, an upcoming drama for Hulu.
Now that the cast has been announced for the series, what else is there to know about Spot? Here’s a look.
Who will star in The Spot?
Leading the series are Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor, who star as the married couple at the center of the story. Also starring in the series are Macon Blair, Daveed Diggs, and Michael Patrick Thornton.
Danes’ role was originally occupied by Kate Winslet, who was also expected to executive produce the show, but the actress left the project back in June 2025, reportedly due to creative differences.
The series is written, showrun, and executive produced by Ed Solomon. Directing the series is Ariel Kleiman, who also produces alongside Robin Sweet. The primary studio for the series is A24, with 20th Television coproducing.
What is The Spot about?
The series centers on Dane’s successful surgeon character and her teacher husband, portrayed by McGregor, as they start to suspect she might have been responsible for a hit-and-run accident that caused the death of a child. “Their quest for truth spirals into a web of mounting suspicion and dark secrets, testing their resolve and their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal,” per the series’ description.
When will The Spot premiere?
