If city government destroys your business, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and local Democratic Socialists of America honcho Gustavo Gordillo want you to know you had it coming.

Asked back in April about how his subsidized city-owned grocery stores might harm local businesses, Mamdani smirked, “I look forward to the competition. May the most affordable grocery store win.”

Gordillo just echoed this sentiment on Fox News, pontificating, “If one publicly owned store is enough to put someone out of business, then maybe they shouldn’t have been in that business in the first place.”

This garbage is typical of people with no experience of private industry, nor even much sense of how government works — such as where taxes come from.

Let’s be clear: Using tax dollars generated by private businesses — the only source of public revenue — to undercut private business isn’t “competition:” It’s sabotage, an active war on the people by the government they elected.

The DSA haters are just as smug when they sneer about mom-and-pop property owners who can’t square the rising costs of energy, insurance, taxes and other city mandates with a rent freeze.

“Landlords in New York have been making a 12% return on their investment,” asserts Gordillo, but he’s citing an analysis of all properties with any rent-stabilized units that found a 12.1% rise in Net Operating Income — which isn’t any measure of “return on investment” or even profitability: It excludes such crucial expenses as taxes, capital outlays and interest on debt.

Building owners aren’t demanding excessive returns; they just want a fair shot at keeping up with costs.

By talking of “competition,” Mamdani and Gordillo use the language of free markets and the “invisible hand” to rationalize using the very visible hand of government to bankrupt businesspeople, give more power to politicians and ultimately reduce human freedom.

Of course, this is small potatoes compared to what the DSA envisions as its long-term plans for America.

“You have no debt. You don’t need health insurance. You don’t pay a mortgage or have a landlord, because comfortable housing is a human right,” the national DSA promises in its official Agenda.

“Food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation aren’t for-profit businesses; they are common goods and utilities.”

Sure thing, and the rivers will flow with lemonade and the trees will drop gumdrops in your mouth — once the socialists have completely rewritten the Constitution, Bill of Rights and all .

These cruel extremists are well on their way to taking over the Democratic Party.

And they’ll succeed if regular Dems don’t start calling out their fundamental, anti-American evil.

Stubborn vagrants at NYC’s Intrepid encampments set up new shelters in game of cleanup whack-a-mole

Stubborn vagrants are refusing to abandon their filthy encampments along Manhattan’s West Side, in some cases setting up new shelters a block away after city workers push them out, locals said Tuesday. After weeks of gripes from locals, City Hall finally began dismantling some of the makeshift shelters that turned part of the Big Apple into skid row — but it’s not fixing the problem, The Post has learned. “The cops came and moved them yesterday...

Chinese AI firms that rip off US models could face sanctions, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warns

The Trump administration could sanction Chinese artificial intelligence firms if it uncovers evidence that their open-source AI models were built by ripping off US labs, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned Tuesday. “This administration supports open-source models, but what we do not support is IP theft,” he said during an appearance on Fox Business. “If we see, especially, that overseas models are stealing from our great companies, we have...

Feral beasts spark chaos across superrich California neighborhood: 'Really did a number here'

A group of feral pigs has sparked chaos in an affluent area of San Jose after tearing up landscaped lawns at a business park in search of food, leaving employees stunned by the destruction. Video captured along Hellyer Drive showed a sounder of wild pigs rooting through grassy areas and ripping up sections of landscaping, with workers saying the damage unfolded over just a few days. “It was all a good patch of green grass we used to enjoy in the...

Kalshi blocked from offering contracts in Washington state as judge cites gambling laws

A judge has granted Washington’s request to block Kalshi from offering its so-called event contracts in the state, saying the prediction markets platform likely violated the state’s gambling laws. In a decision on Monday, Judge John McHale of the King County Superior Court granted Washington’s motion for a preliminary injunction. McHale said the state showed “a likelihood of actual and substantial injury to Washington consumers from illegal...

Mamdani’s working-class costume is falling apart

Even the Gray Lady is raising her eyebrows at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s political two-step. The New York Times’ Lulu Garcia-Navarro went so far as to accuse Mamdani of deflecting as she pressed him for a definition of the “working class” he professes to champion during a recent sit-down. At first pass, Mamdani’s working class included all who “work to pay” their bills. When Garcia-Navarro asked if that included “someone making...

Maher slams Dems as 'cowardly' extremists in ABC interview: 'When we're cheering for the intifada, God, I'm out'

Hey, you know when it's time to maybe leave your party? When Bill Maher is radioactive but "globalize the intifada" isn't. Maher seems to have discovered this problem of late. In an interview with ABC News' "This Week" on Sunday, he noted that Democrats were too "cowardly" to come on his HBO show and that if he criticizes Republicans -- especially President Donald Trump -- at least they're willing to take their "beating like a man" on air. The...
