By day Tommy Teers is busy constructing bookcases, fitting kitchens and erecting roofs.
But by night the 28-year-old trains in the gym with the aim of bringing boxing glory to Guernsey at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
"I started boxing just to keep fit and to get to this stage is crazy," Teers tells BBC Guernsey as he take a break from training in the gym.
"I've put the hard work in and everyone around me has supported me, so I feel like it's time."
But the hard work for Teers is not just confined to the gym, it is what he does during the day as he balances his sport and carpentry.
He boxes three nights a week, does strength and conditioning every night in-between before either doing sprints or a long run at the weekend.
"It's hard balancing everything, but I'm doing what I can," he says.
"The guys I'll be fighting, they're full-time athletes, but I can't afford to do that.
"I've got my business to run and that's kind of what I want to do, so doing this will be a good experience for me to see what level I can actually get to."
Teers and Niall Adams will fight for Guernsey as part of their 20-strong team going to Glasgow.
The bantamweight has twice reached the English Elite National semi-finals and has fought Ellis Trowbridge, who has been selected to represent England in Glasgow.
"I'm just going to give it my all, perform as best as I can that's all I can ask for really," he says.
"I know the competition's going to be hard, it's definitely a step up for me.
"But that's what I want, I want to see how good I can get and how I can compete against those guys."
