Arion Carter has been an important part of Tennessee's defense for each of the last three seasons, registering at least six tackles for loss in each of the past two years.
Carter is looking forward to another strong campaign for the Volunteers, but also has a pretty good idea of what he wants his post-football life to look like.
At SEC media days, Carter revealed his dream job outside of football.
"I want to be an orthopedic surgeon. I'm a public health major. That's what I'm studying in my undergrad," Carter said. "With those opportunities (at the University of Tennessee), I met so many people. I've met so many professors and entrepreneurs that can help lead me in the right direction in that pathway after football."
The linebacker was asked a follow-up question about picking the brain of his team doctors as opposed to teammates given his non-athletic career path.
"Yeah, I would. I love my guys to death, though."
Tennessee's first game is on September 5 at home against Furman.
