Taylor Wimpey North Thames will hand over around £4.7m towards improving the infrastructure in Hemel Hempstead, including 3.7m for a new primary school.
Chaulden Meadows, in Long Chaulden, is a collaborative community of 455 new homes, including a number of properties designated as affordable housing. As part of the contributions agreed under the planning consent for the development, Taylor Wimpey has pledged the following sums:
£3,678,548 for the construction and provision of a new primary school on the development
£438,119.20 will go to primary schools in the area
£162,664.15 will be used for expansion plans for Parkwood Drive Surgery
£355,455.20 will go towards transport infrastructure
£78,530.80 will be used for maintenance of outdoor space on the development
£35,828.23 will go towards ecological enhancements
£11,701.09 will be used for improvements to Dacorum Borough Council sports pitches
The money will be paid to the relevant local authorities to distribute accordingly.
Chaulden Meadows is being built by a consortium that includes Taylor Wimpey and Barratt David Wilson, who are making similar contributions.
Taylor Wimpey’s parcel of the development will comprise two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, surrounded by green open spaces, with an area of safe play space within the development. All homes will feature triple glazing, smart heating, EV charging ports, water-saving systems and energy-efficient appliances.

The community infrastructure levy money is there for local authorities to put towards key infrastructure projects and local services. We especially hope the construction of a new primary school will be a significant benefit to parents in the area.

Along with its S106 contributions, Taylor Wimpey North Thames has supported several community initiatives in the area. In 2025, the housebuilder sponsored Hemel Fest’s recyclable cups, sponsored Alex Horne's Comedy Football Trophy, and covered the cost of reusable Trick N’ Treat bags for the Halloween in Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town event. Recently, Taylor Wimpey also made a donation of cupcakes to Hemel Hempstead Hospital as a thank you to healthcare heroes this International Nurses’ Day.
