Charlie’s Safari, a Tacoma family fun center with an indoor playground, is now closed.
The business in Michael’s Plaza at 3610 S. Pine St., Suite A, has notices posted on the front door and online reading, “We are closed effectively immediately. Sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.”
The exact closing date is unclear.
Charlie’s Safari was a venue for children’s birthday parties, with dedicated party rooms, a snack bar and an adult lounge that served alcohol. Along with a safari-themed indoor playground, there were parkour elements, inflatables and arcade games.
The business opened in 2008 in Lacey but closed during the pandemic, as previously reported by The News Tribune.
Tacoma resident Rob Jones bought Charlie’s Safari and re-opened the business in Tacoma in October 2024, citing “more population and business potential” at the new location.
The space on South Pine Street used to be occupied by Pump It Up Tacoma Kids Birthdays and More.
Jones could not be reached for comment on Charlie’s Safari’s closure.
There are other indoor family fun centers and birthday venues in the area, including Odyssey 1 and Spaceland in Tacoma.
