SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott families and beginner anglers will have a chance to learn the basics of saltwater fishing during a free clinic planned for Aug. 13.
The event is being offered through the Saltwater Angler Education Program and is aimed at people looking for a safe, hands-on introduction to fishing on the water.
The clinic will run from noon to 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the Swampscott Yacht Club and then walk to nearby Whales Beach. The minimum age for the clinic is 7 and older.
The free clinic is "designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of saltwater fishing in a safe, hands-on environment."
Registration is required and space is limited. People interested in attending can register through the state link included with the event listing at mass.gov.
The clinic is centered on basic instruction, making it a fit for newcomers who may not have prior fishing experience.
