Tomahawk, the acclaimed supergroup led by iconic vocalist Mike Patton, made its long-awaited live return.
The experimental rock band composed of Duane Denison of The Jesus Lizard, John Stanier of Helmet and Battles and Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle alongside Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle took center stage for its first show in 13 years.
Touring major cities across the United States with sludge metal pioneers Melvins, they are co-headlining the summer tour A Huge Waste of Your Time and Money on a 21-date run.
Kicking off the tour at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, the four-piece supergroup delivered a nostalgic 18-song set featuring tracks from across its catalog, excluding its 2007 album Anonymous.
Tomahawk also spotlighted its latest album, Tonic Immobility, performing several songs from the 2021 record live for the first time.
In addition, the band brought back its cover of Duane Eddy's 1958 instrumental "Stalkin'" to the live set and closed the show with its signature song, "God Hates A Coward," from its 2001 self-titled debut album.
The supergroup's last live performance was in 2013 during festival performances and headlining shows on the Oddfellows Tour in support of its fourth studio album, Oddfellows.
Following opening night in Nashville, Tomahawk expressed its delight and excitement about returning to the stage after a lengthy hiatus, doing so with its signature deadpan humor.
For the remaining dates of the A Huge Waste of Your Time and Money Tour, Tomahawk and Melvins will continue touring through August, with the run concluding on Aug. 15 in Los Angeles.
