Steelers legend reveals what to look for at training camp

Training camp is just around the corner for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and one Steel City legend has revealed to fans what he's looking forward to most in Latrobe.

On the newest episode of Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, Big Ben shared that Pittsburgh's brand-new schemes on both sides of the ball are what intrigue him most heading into training camp.

“I'm looking to see, what is the scheme?” Roethlisberger said. “What are the offensive schematics going to look like? What are the defensive schemes going to look like? … You're going to get a pretty quick understanding of what they're trying to do. Is this going to be run-heavy? Is this going to be very balanced? Is it going to be four wides? Is it a West Coast system, which I assume it's going to be? Are we going to be a blitzing team on defense? Are we going to be man-heavy in the secondary? Are we zones? Are we Cover 2? Do we like more single-high? You're going to get a chance to see a lot of that stuff.”

Roethlisberger also acknowledged that, while training camps are typically a time when teams try a lot of different things schematically, it should still be enough to give fans an understanding of what the Steelers will look like in 2026.

While Big Ben is clearly infatuated with Mike McCarthy's new-look offense and Patrick Graham's schemes as defensive coordinator, we're extremely excited to watch a few positional battles play out, such as Mason Rudolph vs. Will Howard for the backup quarterback role.
