Deep Silver and KING Art Games have released the third of four CGI narrative trailers for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, and this one turns the spotlight on the Necrons. Each cinematic chapter covers one of the game’s four playable factions, with the latest following the undying legions of the Szerkhan Dynasty as they awaken from 60 million years of slumber to reclaim Kronus from the “lesser species” locked in war across its surface.
The cinematic centers on Thothmek, a powerful Necron Chronomancer who observes the fighting between Space Marines and Orks from orbit with cold disdain. Lamenting the desecration of the Necron tombs, Thothmek begins waking the dynasty’s full military might, from Lych Guard to living metal, before the trailer closes on its final reveal: a colossal Necron fleet gathered above Kronus, ready to descend and purge everything standing in the way of its reclamation.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches on September 17, 2026, and Commander Edition buyers deploy three days earlier on September 14 through a three-day early unlock. Both editions are available to preorder now at a 10 percent discount, and we covered the full edition breakdown in our Warhammer Skulls 2026 roundup, where the Commander Edition was detailed as including the digital soundtrack and all of the Year One paid DLC.
The roadmap extends well past launch, as Year One brings free updates featuring the return of Crusade Mode alongside new maps, modes, Commanders, and the Mission Editor, plus two major story expansions that deepen the conflict on Kronus and introduce a new playable faction. The game showed off its multiplayer faction battles earlier this month, and with three of the four faction cinematics now out, only one chapter remains before September.
