Exhibition space for the world's largest gaming event, 'Gamescom 2026,' has completely sold out for the first time in the event's history. Following record-breaking demand last year, the surge in interest has prompted organizers to begin preparations for a venue expansion in 2027. Major developers, including NC and KONAMI, have also confirmed their participation.

On the 21st, the German Games Industry Association and Koelnmesse, the co-organizers of Gamescom, announced that all exhibition space for this year has been fully booked.

With even the expanded exhibition area from last year filling up early, the organizers explained that they are actively reviewing a further expansion for 2027 to accommodate growing demand and improve the visitor experience.

Tim Endres, Director of Gamescom, described the full booking of booths as an encouraging sign for the entire industry, emphasizing that "the harmony between business and community experience is what sets Gamescom apart." Felix Falk, Managing Director of the association, added that "demand from exhibitors is higher than ever, and Gamescom 2026 will be the largest in history."

Companies newly confirmed to participate include Aerosoft, Embark Studios, GIANTS Software, KONAMI, Level Infinite, NC, and Tencent Games. Following KRAFTON's earlier announcement, major Korean game companies are once again making their mark on the European stage. The existing lineup includes BANDAI NAMCO, Capcom, CD PROJEKT RED, Electronic Arts, Nintendo, SEGA, Ubisoft, Xbox, HoYoverse, and NetEase.

Gamescom 2026 will be held in Cologne, Germany, from August 26 to 30. August 26 is reserved for industry professionals and media, while the Gamescom week kicks off on August 24 with the developer conference 'Gamescom Dev.'

On August 25, the eve of the opening, 'Opening Night Live (ONL)' will be held, hosted by Geoff Keighley and co-hosted by Eefje 'Sjokz' Depoortere. The organizers announced that they plan to reveal news regarding 'Metro 2039' and 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past,' both scheduled for release in 2027.

Community programs have also been expanded. The speedrunning event 'Games Done Quick (GDQ)' will be held in Europe for the first time, alongside the 'Gamescom Awesome Indies Show' in partnership with IGN, the Cosplay Village, and the Cosplay Contest. The GDQ community will also be raising funds for the 'Gaming for Democracy' campaign. Additionally, navigation features have been improved, making it easier to locate amenities such as accessible restrooms and free water stations.
