Everything Samsung announced today is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. From the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, to the Snapdragon Wear Elite in the Galaxy Watches, and even the new intelligent eyewear is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is already pretty popular, as it launched with the Galaxy S26 series back in February. With the world’s fastest mobile cores and some pretty insane benchmark scores.
Wearables get their own dedicated chip for the first time
This is actually a bigger deal than it sounds. Snapdragon Wear Elite marks the first time Samsung has used a Snapdragon platform specifically built for its watches, and it’s inside both the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Qualcomm is leaning hard into the “Personal AI” branding here, and the pitch makes sense. Watches are always on your wrist, always collecting data, so Samsung and Qualcomm want that constant stream of sensor data to translate into smarter, more proactive health insights instead of just raw numbers on a screen.
Then there’s the eyewear side of things. Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google are expanding their Android XR partnership beyond headsets, and Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 is the chip powering that push. Warby Parker and Gentle Monster showed off two new designs at Unpacked, part of larger collections landing this fall.
Worth noting, Snapdragon powers the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 globally, but the Galaxy Z Flip 8 only gets Snapdragon in select regions, similar to what Samsung did with the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus earlier this year.
Point being, Samsung’s AI ambitions this generation are leaning heavily on Qualcomm’s silicon across literally every device category it makes now: phones, watches, and glasses alike.
