With the 2026 World Cup officially in the books and Spain crowned champions for the second time in the last 20 years while England took home third over France, the attention for Tottenham Hotspur and the rest of the Premier League turns to the summer transfer window.
Spurs have already been plenty focused on the transfer market, of course, as they have signed a total of six players, including spending a combined 185 million pounds on two of the top midfielders in the Premier League in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Now, as Spurs look towards revamping an attack that only had one double digit goal scorer last season in Richarlison - and nobody with 10 assists - the Lilywhites will have to ponder making some sales, too.
Lucas Bergvall has left Spurs with no choice
Sky Sports released a list of all the notable names they think could be on the move in the Premier League summer 2026 transfer window, and there were four players on Tottenham Hotspur that made the list. Defenders Djed Spence and Cristian Romero, both wanted by Inter Milan among others, are on the transfer radar for a sale, while striker Richarlison and center midfielder Lucas Bergvall were also listed by Sky as possible exits from N17 this year.
Neither Romero nor Richarlison are surprising inclusions in the slightest. Richy was crucial to Spurs staying up with his 11 goals, but the fact that he was so important to the Tottenham attack last season was also part of the problem.
Meanwhile, Romero is coming off an incredible World Cup and is a great player, but he soured a lot of people as a captain and wanted to move to La Liga already a year ago. Spurs are better off selling for a good price, as they have already replaced his minutes with Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.
Tottenham fans won't be upset with seeing either of those two go, but Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall are two young players they would like to keep. Spence was on the bubble, in all honesty, but his heart and critical performances as England's best defender won over Spurs fans again, and he clearly still has a role to play as a versatile backup - or could even challenge the injury prone Destiny Udogie as the starter under Roberto De Zerbi.
Finally, Bergvall's ship has probably sailed despite Spurs best intentions. He does not want to compete, and it is obvious he does not want to reconsider staying. Spurs fans would rather see Conor Gallagher or Rodrigo Bentancur leave the midfield, but there is no choice here.
