The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred about 30 miles from Nancy Guthrie's home in the Catalina Foothills. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Digital that there is "nothing to indicate the cases are related," despite some similarities.
Law enforcement arrived at a home after a call came in about an assault. The report indicates that an attack occurred in the middle of the night, just before 3 a.m. local time.
"An unknown male suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door, physically and sexually assaulted the female victim and prior to fleeing the scene, attempted to burglarize the home. The investigation is ongoing," reads an official media release that was sent to Parade by the department.
Per the release, the suspect is described as either Hispanic or White, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. Also of note, the suspect is believe to have a gray beard.
Residents in the area are asked to check their home security footage and report anything suspicious by dialing 911 of 88-CRIME.
Meanwhile, Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe that at least one suspect broke into her home in the overnight hours and abducted her. The FBI, who has been working in tandem with Pima County, was able to obtain footage of a masked individual on Guthrie's front stoop the night she went missing. However, the person in the videos has not been identified and a suspect has not been named.
