Shakira fans are in awe of the 49-year-old singer’s recent appearance during her performance at the 2026 World Cup final.
Viewers took to X on Sunday, July 19, following the halftime show, which saw Shakira and Burna Boy perform the tournament’s official track, “Dai Dai.”
But it wasn’t just Shakira’s mesmerizing dance moves and the song’s catchy lyrics that got people talking. The majority of comments focused on her youthful glow, with fans calling the star “ageless.”
“I can’t believe Shakira is 49 years old. She looks 30!” one user wrote, with another commenting, “Shakira is 49, I don’t even believe it.”
“Shakira is 49, but honestly, she looks unbelievably young and beautiful. She’s one of those rare women who seem to get even more stunning with age. Her beauty, energy, and charm are simply timeless,” another added.
“#Ageless Shakira, amazing voice always. FIFA girl,” another user wrote, seemingly referencing Shakira’s fourth World Cup performance. The Colombian-born songstress previously took the stage during the 2006, 2010 and 2014 tournaments.
Other fans, meanwhile, couldn’t help but point out that Shakira, who performed “Dai Dai” as her ex, former Spanish national team player Gerard Piqué, watched with their two sons, Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11, has now been to more World Cup tournaments than the retired football pro.
“#Shakira in a #FIFAWorldCup final with #Spain and Gerard Piqué is not. Now come to think of it, Shakira has been to more World Cups than Piqué has,” the fan quipped.
Even The View‘s Ana Navarro weighed in, joking during Monday’s episode that while Piqué, 39, who was accused of cheating on the “She Wolf” crooner with his now-girlfriend, Clara Chia, was “too old to be on the field,” Shakira was not.
Shakira told People in a June cover story that the scandal and split, while difficult, ultimately made her stronger.
“Behind every experience in life, there’s always a lesson, and we have to be grateful for all those lessons, even for the people that leave you with scars,” Shakira told the outlet, adding that those lessons “just make us better.”
Shakira also said she feels stronger now, noting, “I always thought that I was more fragile or weaker than what life proved me to be.”
Touching on her World Cup connection, Shakira also shared how pivotal the tournament has been at various points in her life.
“Every World Cup is really magical, and I think this one is going to be all about bringing people together in this very sensitive moment in time, socially and politically,” she shared, noting that it was at the 2010 World Cup, where she performed “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” at the closing ceremony, that she met Piqué.
“I have this connection with [football] that seems unbreakable,” Shakira maintained.
