Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Hunterdon County

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southwestern Hunterdon County as a storm with 60 mph wind gusts moves toward Flemington.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Hunterdon County as a powerful storm moves toward the area.

As of 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, a severe thunderstorm was located over Quakertown, Pennsylvania, in Bucks County and moving east at 30 mph, according to the weather service.

Communities in Hunterdon County under the warning include Frenchtown and Milford.

National Weather Service radar indicated the storm could produce wind gusts of up to 60 mph, which could down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages.

The storm was expected to reach the Flemington area within about 30 minutes.

Residents are urged to seek shelter indoors and avoid travel during the storm if possible.
