When asked over the years which film from the classic Disney canon reigns supreme in her heart, Selena has consistently pointed to Alice in Wonderland. The 1951 animated masterpiece, based on Lewis Carroll’s fantasy novels, captured her imagination from an early age.

Unlike the traditional princess tales of the era, Alice in Wonderland celebrated curiosity, unconventional world-building, and an adventurous heroine navigating an unpredictable environment—themes that deeply resonated with a young performer finding her footing in Hollywood.

Selena’s connection to Disney’s cinematic universe expanded into music early in her recording career. Long before her solo pop tracks topped international charts, she lent her vocal talents to animated projects across the studio:

  • Tinker Bell (2008): Selena recorded the soaring track “Fly to Your Heart” for Disney’s animated Tinker Bell film, capturing the whimsical fairy spirit that defined the franchise.
  • 101 Dalmatians Legacy: She put a rock-pop spin on the classic villain anthem “Cruella de Vil” for the Disneymania 6 album, introducing a new generation to classic Disney songwriting.

While Alice in Wonderland holds her top spot for animated feature films, Selena surprised fans during a recent retrospective interview when asked to choose the greatest Disney Channel character of all time.

Rather than choosing her own iconic character, Alex Russo, Selena named Hannah Montana as the undisputed “GOAT” of Disney Channel. Having guest-starred as the pop rival Mikayla on the show early in her career, she praised the character’s lasting cultural footprint and nostalgia.

Stepping into her 34th year as an accomplished actress, executive producer, and global entrepreneur, Selena Gomez continues to carry that same sense of wonder that first drew her to stories like Alice in Wonderland. Happy 34th Birthday, Selena!
