Lane Kiffin continues to be a topic of conversation during SEC media day. Ahead of LSU football's scheduled appearance on Thursday, SEC network analyst Jordan Rodgers offered his expectations for the Tigers in 2026.
"Lane Kiffin has to reach the national championship game or it's a failure," Rodgers said. "If he can't get further than he did at Ole Miss with more resources at LSU, then what are we even doing here?"
Rodgers listed the costs associated with Kiffin's team in Baton Rouge, including $54 million in buy out costs going to Brian Kelly. LSU pays $13 million for Kiffin's salary and a rumored $40 million for roster construction.
Before departing for LSU, Kiffin took Ole Miss to the College Football Playoffs for the first time in program history and the Rebels made a run to the semifinals.
"If you can't get that far, if not further, it's a failure," Rodgers said. "[I'm] not saying Lane Kiffin's job's in jeopardy if he doesn't reach the national championship, but it is national championship or bust."
