Sebewaing Township residents will be able to vote on additional millage for the township library during the Aug. 4 primary election.
The Sebewaing Township Library is proposing an additional millage of 0.7 mills to fund "all library purposes authorized by law." The library currently a 0.3 millage that passed in 2024 and will be levied until 2030.
The additional millage would be levied from 2026 to 2032 and could cost residents an additional $70 per $100,000 of taxable property a year. If approved, the millage is estimated to raise $94,000 in its first year.
The deadline to register to vote by mail or online is July 20. After that, new voter registrations will be required in-person from June 21 to Aug. 4. More information on registration can be found on the Michigan state website. Absentee ballots must be received by the clerk by mail by 5 p.m. Friday, July 31, or in-person at the clerk's office by 4 p.m. Aug. 3.
Voting takes place Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting runs from July 25 to Aug 2. Early voting sites and hours vary by township. More information on early voting can be found on the Huron County website.
