A search in South Carolina for a missing infant who was believed to be in danger is over.
Both Jolly and Crystal Houser have been located safely, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday. Information about where and when the mother and child were found was not available.
Jolly Houser was reported missing Monday by the sheriff’s department. The 6-month-old hadn’t been seen for a week, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
Before being found, the baby was last seen July 16 with her mother, 38-year-old Crystal Houser, according to the release. The baby was last seen in the 8500 block of Bluff Road, the sheriff’s department said. That’s in the Hopkins area of Richland County, near Congaree National Park.
The sheriff’s department said that it believes that Crystal Houser took the child from the location and fled.
Jolly Houser might be in danger, the sheriff’s department originally said, but it did not specify why it believes the baby could be in danger, and did not say if any alerts had been issued.
There was no word if Crystal Houser, or anyone else, is facing criminal charges.
