Former Bachelor Sean Lowe and wife Catherine Giudici's 8-year-old son, Isaiah, has recently been hospitalized.

"This past week has been a rough one for the Lowes. Our precious boy Isaiah was admitted to Children's Hospital and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes," Giudici, 40, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, July 21. "Our wonderful pediatrician noticed some symptoms at our annual appointment that stuck out to her."

Giudici continued, "He had lost 11 pounds since his last visit (we thought he just had a growth spurt) and had been drinking and peeing A LOT (it's really hot here in the summer). Otherwise healthy and active, she ran some tests and sent us to the emergency room based on those alarming results. Thankful for the nurses, doctors and staff who gave us a four-year college education on his condition in four days."

In addition to Isaiah, Lowe, 42, and Giudici also share son Samuel, 10, and daughter Mia, 6.

Since his diagnosis, Isaiah has received multiple treatments.

"This tough boy has endured countless injections, four days away from his home and a lifestyle and routine that feels very very foreign," Giudici wrote on Tuesday. "He's done all this without losing his playful spirit and a joy that doesn't make sense. A lot of tears, pain and confusion too, but he has been a trooper, no question about it."

Giudici further called her son her "new hero" for enduring the unexpected health challenges.

"I am so proud to be his mama," she gushed. "Prayers for him, his siblings and his parents are welcomed as we navigate this new normal. ❤️."

Lowe and Giudici received support from their fellow Bachelor alumni in the comments section.

"Sweet boy. I'm so sorry and know your mama heart hurts right now, but Isaiah is so lucky to have you as his guiding light," Lesley Murphy, who also appeared on Lowe's Bachelor season, wrote. "Sending y'all so much love from up the road!!!"

Lowe's sister, Shay Shull, added, "We love you guys SO big! You have handled this like champ, mama."

Lowe and Giudici met on The Bachelor season 17 in 2013, getting engaged in the finale. The couple tied the knot the next year.

"I think I only went on The Bachelor because of [Sean] specifically and his values and what he represented," Giudici exclusively told Us in July 2025, referring to the pair's faith. "[The Bachelor] was perfect for us."

Confused Trump, 80, glitches in message to fallen troops’ families
