Long one of the thinnest farm systems in baseball, the Giants have steadily climbed the rankings thanks to some high-profile international signings, including Josuar Gonzalez, Jhonny Level and Luis Hernández.
With Day 1 of the 2026 draft complete and the first four rounds and 135 picks in the books, let's unpack how all the action unfolded for the Giants, and how it changes the look of their system.

With a consensus top-three in the 2026 draft class, the Giants' pick is where things got interesting: they opted for the top pitcher in the draft, Jackson Flora, over a handful of intriguing outfield prospects.
After going 12-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 102 innings this spring, Flora was head and shoulders above the rest of the college pitching class, and his big 6'5" frame and standout fastball-slider combo could fit at the front of a big league rotation.
They followed that pick with two of the best high school arms in this class, Carson Bolemon and Kaden Waechter, both of whom offer significant physical projection and plus stuff. Rutgers outfielder Peyton Bonds is the nephew of Barry Bonds, and more than just a legacy pick with a strong 6'5", 230-pound frame and significant offensive upside.

Crown Jewel: The Giants signed Josuar Gonzalez for just under $3 million as one of the headliners of the 2025 international class, and after a strong pro debut in the Dominican Summer League, he is off to a fantastic start in his stateside debut. The 18-year-old is hitting .373/.488/.552 with 25 hits and 15 walks in 21 games, and he should continue steadily climbing Top 100 prospect lists.
System Weakness: After years as a pitching-forward system that struggled to develop impact bats, San Francisco's top prospect list now skews heavily toward young, high-ceiling bats. In a pitching-friendly home ballpark like Oracle Park, getting back to developing impact arms will be important to their future success.
Second-Half Outlook: Carson Whisenhunt, Blade Tidwell, and Jesus Rodriguez have already seen the majors this season and could return as opportunities arise. As for a prospect who could debut in the second half, left-hander Joe Whitman has a 3.63 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 79.1 innings at Triple-A.
