Last year's Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 didn't bring any new features to the table; in fact, it was basically the same as the 2024 model, but with 32GB of storage. It didn't do enough to even be called an iterative upgrade, and Samsung had to do something to stand out this year.
Thankfully, it delivered. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 brings exciting upgrades across the board, and this is a smartwatch that deserves the Ultra moniker. It has a titanium case that's significantly thinner, and the design looks better. It is much faster than last year, has tons of new software features, and gets brighter while you're outdoors.
Oh, and there's a massive 800mAh battery, so the smartwatch lasts nearly twice as long as before. This is the upgrade you wanted.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Pricing and availability
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 on July 22, 2026, and the smartwatch is now up for sale globally. It retails for $699 in the U.S., an increase of $50 from its predecessor.
When you look at the sheer number of new features on offer, that's actually a decent deal.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Design
Samsung is using the same choice of materials this time, so the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has a titanium case. The smartwatch switches to a squircle design, and I think it looks better than the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025.
At 10mm, it is significantly thinner than its 12.1mm predecessor, and that is immediately noticeable when you wear the smartwatch. What's also great is that Samsung somehow retained the same weight while adding a bigger 800mAh battery.
There isn't a rotating bezel, but you get a trio of buttons on the side, and you get a decent amount of customizability in this regard. The smartwatch gets IP69K dust and water resistance alongside 10ATM and MIL-STD-810H durability, and combined with the titanium chassis, this is a product that's built to last anywhere.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Display
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has thinner bezels around the sides, and it has a slightly bigger 1.52-inch AMOLED screen as a result. The resolution is 498x498, and it is significantly brighter than previous generation, going up to 5,000 nits.
The brighter AMOLED and vibrant colors ensure the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is usable even under harsh sunlight, and this isn't going to be a problem with the smartwatch. Samsung is also touting an always-on battery life of 60 hours, and that's nearly double that of the last generation.

Thankfully, Samsung went with the Snapdragon Wear Elite as standard this year, and that means you get the best hardware platform available for smartwatches. There's also 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, Bluetooth and cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi, NFC, and dual-band GPS.
The feature that I like the most is the increased battery life. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 managed to last over two days, and thanks to a much bigger 800mAh battery and the efficiency gains of using a new platform, Samsung is touting sizeable gains in this area. I haven't used the smartwatch yet, but I'm eager to get my hands on it and see if it measures up to the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 in this regard.
It won't take as long to charge either, with Samsung touting a full charge in 90 minutes. To put that into context, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 took over nearly hours to charge, so this is a definite win.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Software
Samsung retained all the sensors on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 — including the BioActive module — and you get an exhaustive set of health and fitness monitoring features on the smartwatch. What's interesting is that Samsung is extending its software feature-set with a dashboard that provides an overview of your vitals, as well as a new Trail Run mode that measures elevation changes and climbing progress.
There's also a Nutrition Alert that gives you real-time hydration guidance, and Samsung is doubling down on diving with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, with the smartwatch getting a dedicated Diving mode.
The software itself is based on Wear OS 7, and the smartwatch runs One UI 9 Watch out of the box. Samsung has shown over the years that it knows how to deliver meaningful features on its smartwatches, and that's once again the case with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
