Kicking off Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung announced its latest Galaxy lineup and specifications, including two new Galaxy Z Fold8 models, the Galaxy Z Flip8, the Galaxy Watch9, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2.
Known for their smartphones, TVs, PC monitors, and more, Samsung has announced a list of upcoming Galaxy products launching throughout the year at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, with pre-orders opening today. During the showcase, Samsung unveiled the new base Galaxy Z Fold8 with a wider build, the new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip8. Alongside the new smartphones, the Galaxy Watch series has been expanded with the introduction of the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2.
With a list of new Samsung devices announced at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, here’s a breakdown of the latest products launching in Canada throughout the year.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8
Kicking off the lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Fold8 smartphone is designed to be shorter and wider, providing an immersive viewing experience for streaming and reading, while upgrading the cameras to make it easier for users to capture, edit, and share content. Highlighting the specifications, the smartphone features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, up to 1TB of storage, up to 16GB RAM, a 4,800 mAh battery, 50MP f/1.9 Ultra-Wide and 50MP f/1.8 Wide Rear Cameras, 10MP f/2.2 Main Screen and Cover cameras, IP48 water resistance, and a Fingerprint Scanner and Facial Recognition for security.
Not to mention, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 charging has been upgraded with 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0, 20W Wireless Charging 2.0, and Wireless PowerShare.
Along with a shorter, wider build, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 displays will have lower vertical and larger horizontal resolution compared to the previous Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. Breaking down the display specs, the main display features a 7.6” Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, 1848 x 2448 QXGA+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Shifting to the cover display, the smartphone features a 5.5” Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, a 1972 x 1248 FHD+ resolution, and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 will be priced at $2,399.99 CAD for the 256GB model, $2,679.99 CAD for the 512GB model, and $3,3239.99 CAD for the 1TB model.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
As the first Ultra-tiered phone to join the Fold lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a similar design to the Galaxy Z Fold7, but with a larger battery and display to handle multitasking, content creation, and Galaxy AI with ease. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, the smartphone features up to 1TB of storage, up to 16GB of RAM, a 5,000 mAh battery with the same charging capability as the base model, IP48 water resistance, and a Fingerprint Scanner and Facial Recognition. Focusing on the updated cameras, the smartphone features 50MP f/1.9 Ultra Wide, 200MP f/1.7 Wide, and 10MP f/2.2 Telephoto Rear Cameras, while the Main Screen and Cover features a 10MP f/2.2 camera.
Shifting to the displays, the main display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an 8.0” Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, an increased 2504 x 2256 QXGA+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold7, the cover display includes a 6.5” Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen and a resolution boasting a 2520 x 1080 FHD+, but swaps the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 with the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is available for pre-order today, priced at $2,699.99 CAD for the 256GB model, $2,979.99 CAD for the 512GB model, and $3,539.99 CAD for the 1TB model.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8
Bringing back the flip phone with style, the AI-Powered Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is designed for creators with an upgraded FlexWindow display, Galaxy AI, and FlexCam. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, both phones are nearly identical but utilize different processors. Instead of the Samsung Exynos 2500, the Flip8 has been upgraded to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. Highlighting the similar specifications, the smartphone features up to 512GB of storage, 12GB RAM, a 4,300 mAh battery, 12MP f/2.2 Ultra Wide and 50MP f/1.8 Wide Rear Cameras, 10MP f/2.2 Front Camera, IP48 water resistance, and a Fingerprint Scanner and Facial Recognition for security.
Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 retains the 25W Super Fast Charging, 15W Wireless Charging 2.0, and Wireless PowerShare charging capabilities from the previous model.
Similar to the Galaxy Z Flip7, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 main display features a 6.9” Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, boasting a 2520 x 1080 FHD+ at a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the improved FlexWindow display features a 4.1” Super AMOLED screen with a 1048 x 948 HD+ resolution, a 60Hz – 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 will be priced at $1,549.99 CAD for the 256GB model, and $1,829.99 CAD for the 512GB model.
Samsung Galaxy Watch9
Expanding the Galaxy Watch family, the Samsung Galaxy Watch9 upgrades the processor and battery, while incorporating features ranging from sleep apnea detection to daily health insights to provide users with their wellness details. Upgraded to the Qualcomm SDW6100 processor, the smartwatch features a touchscreen and digital bezel, peak brightness of 3000 nits, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, fast charging, and IP68 water resistance. Available in two sizes, the 44mm model offers a 1.5” display with 480 x 480 resolution and a 445 mAh battery. In contrast, the 40mm model offers a 1.3” display with 438 x 438 resolution and a 390 mAh battery.
Highlighting the many sensors packed in the Samsung Galaxy Watch9, the smartwatch includes Accel, Gyro, Baro, Ambient Light, HRM, ECG, Compass, Geomagnetic, BIA, SpO2, Infrared Temperature, and Enhanced Bioactive. Additionally, users can opt for the Bluetooth or LTE model. Available in Black, Silver, and Beige, the Samsung Galaxy Watch9 44mm LTE model is priced at $639.99 CAD, and the 40mm LTE model is $599.99 CAD. For the Bluetooth variation, the 44mm is priced at $559.99 CAD, and the 40mm model is $519.99 CAD.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2
Wrapping up the list of Samsung products showcased at Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2, built to handle outdoor activities with a larger display, longer battery life, and enhanced durability. In terms of the smartwatch specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 upgrade to the Qualcomm SDW6100 processor, featuring an upgraded 1.52” display with a 498 x 498 resolution, a peak 5000 nits brightness, 2GB RAM, 64GB of storage, a massive 800mAh battery improvement, fast charging capability, and touchscreen, digital bezel, and quick button controls.
Crafted to handle extreme outdoor activities, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 includes 10ATM + Ocean Swimming, Operational Temperature / Altitude Guaranteed, IP69K water and dust resistance, MIL-STD-810H, and Diving Standard Certification. Additionally, the smartwatch includes the same connectivity options and sensors as the Samsung Galaxy Watch9, but swaps the Geomagnetic sensor with the New Haptic Motor Geomagnetic sensor. Available in black and silver, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 will be available for $949.99 CAD.
