Ryan Reynolds still has plenty of friends to count on in Hollywood despite his and wife Blake Lively‘s fallout with Taylor Swift — and a source exclusively tells In Touch he’s counting on his friendship with The Proposal costar Sandra Bullock to help him get back on track.

The source says the Deadpool star, 49, has remained in regular contact with Bullock, 61, and hopes they’ll reunite on screen someday.

“Ryan’s special relationship with Sandra is a trump card he hasn’t had to pull yet during all the crazy legal battles of the last 20 months over It Ends With Us and the fight between Blake and Justin Baldoni,” the source explains. “He and Sandra have always had plans to work together again.”

Plus, it helps that, according to the source “Sandra and Blake love each other and are both incredibly close to the filmmaker Paul Feig.” (Feig directed Bullock in The Heat and Lively, 38, in A Simple Favor.)

“He is the guy who could actually pull together a movie starring Sandra, Ryan and Blake!” the source shares.

While Feig, 63, is currently busy with other projects, the source believes that Reynolds still has an ace up his sleeve if he decides to call on the Miss Congeniality star.

“Ryan and Blake count Sandra as a long-term ally, and if Ryan ever needs something from Sandra, he knows he has a favor there that he hasn’t called in yet,” the source adds. “She is nothing short of Ryan’s trump card.”

However, “the clock is ticking” after the The Adam Project star “paused a lot of his Hollywood work” to help Lively in her legal battle against Baldoni, 42.

“Now he has to re-center himself and remind audiences why he became a star in the first place,” the source tells In Touch. “Light action comedies, rom-coms, movies that make people smile – Ryan needs to get himself in these kinds of projects, and those genres are Sandra’s specialty.”

The source also believes that a reunion between Bullock and Reynolds could actually be an easy sell.

“Even if nobody wants to work with Ryan, everybody still wants to work with Sandra and a Proposal sequel, or a similar project pairing the two of them, would not be a hard movie to get made,” the source concludes. “Ryan has rebuilding to do and he knows Sandra will be there to help.”
