Russian Su-57 fighter jet crashes near Moscow

According to preliminary information, the pilot managed to eject.

The crash occurred near the town of Zvenigorod. Witnesses said the fighter jet exploded after the pilot ejected.

“The plane crashed, and a parachute was seen nearby,” Telegram channel ASTRA quoted local residents as saying.

On April 25, 2026, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck several Russian Su-57 fighter jets and a Su-34 fighter-bomber at the Shagol airfield in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast.

Russia describes the Su-57 as a “fifth-generation fighter,” and the multirole aircraft is relatively rare. Ukrainian forces struck a Su-57 for the first time in June 2024 at the Akhtubinsk airfield in Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast.
