Poland has issued warnings that Russia may conduct false flag operations by launching a swarm of captured Ukrainian drones into Polish and NATO airspace.
According to RMF24, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed that intelligence indicates Russia has captured a significant number of Ukrainian drones.
Moscow reportedly plans to use these aircraft, bearing Ukrainian military markings, to simulate an attack from Kyiv.
This tactic is aimed at testing NATO's resolve, eroding Western public support for Ukraine, and manufacturing a pretext for direct Russian retaliation against the alliance.
"We have already encountered provocations involving drones, so we have seen what the Russian Federation is capable of. That is why our vigilance and the information that such actions may occur is crucial," Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.
“Russia has captured many Ukrainian drones and may use them as an element of provocation, changing the markings on them,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
Russia Constantly Pushing Boundaries Over The Baltic
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that Warsaw continues to assess the overall threat posed by Russia as remaining at a “very high” level.
Polish and Swedish fighters have intercepted Russian military aircraft three times over the past week that were encroaching into NATO airspace.
Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over international water in the Baltic Sea after it approached to within around 30 kilometers (19 miles) of the Polish coast near Ustka.
He said Russia is constantly attempting to test Polish air defense systems and critical infrastructure, alongside cyber operations and GPS signal interference.
“We are constantly dealing with testing the resilience of our air defense systems and critical infrastructure, especially in the area of internet operations, as well as GPS jamming.
“The arrests carried out by the Internal Security Agency and the Military Counterintelligence Service best demonstrate that Russia has not changed its tactics,” he said.
Hybrid Warfare Escalation By Moscow
This false flag warning is part of a broader, ongoing hybrid campaign launched by Russia against Poland and its neighbors. Defense officials state that Poland is navigating constant security tests.
Prior provocations include a significant incident where 19 Russian drones breached Polish airspace, triggering a NATO Article 4 consultation.

The minister stated that not only Poland, but the Baltic states, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland and Romania could all be at risk from such a false flag operation.
“They play these kinds of games. We have to be prepared for it,” he added.
In late June, Latvian intelligence said to Fox News they had detected Russian preparations for a hybrid attack that would fall short of the threshold for open war.
The attack might include “missiles, drones or other actions designed to send a signal: stop supporting Ukraine, or you will have your own problems,” Latvian intelligence officials told Fox News Digital.
Russia Is Trying To Break NATO’s Resolve Through Poland
Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Radek Sikorski, a few weeks ago, spoke about the threat in an interview with CBS News, stating that an operation could take place within the next two years.
"I wouldn't exclude the Russians doing some kind of false flag operation against Russian territory in order to have a pretext for hitting one of the NATO countries," Sikorski said.
"We need to communicate to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin that we know what he's up to and that we will not be taken in and that this would be completely unacceptable, and we would defend every inch of NATO territory."
Sikorski added that, "Ukraine has certainly won in the Black Sea. Russia certainly doesn't have air domination over Ukraine. It can send missiles and drones, but it cannot fly freely over Ukraine.
“The ground war is stuck, and Ukraine seems to have gained fire control over a strategic highway from Donbas to Crimea," he said. "Wars are never linear.
They go through phases. But it looks like the phase of Russia having the initiative has ended."
The Poles play a crucial role in providing Ukraine with military aid. Almost 90 percent of all military aid for Kyiv passes through Polish territory.
Poland believes that the best way forward is for Russia and Ukraine to negotiate directly without interference from third-party countries.
"I'm personally of the view that it's better to allow Russia and Ukraine to negotiate directly.
They negotiate over exchanges of bodies of fallen soldiers, of POWs. And there are issues that we don't want to be pressing them to do," Sikorsky said. But added that Europeans are not neutral in their outlook.
"We Europeans are not neutral between the two sides. We are on the side of the victim of aggression. And Russia is the aggressor," he said.
