Alien: Earth is taking things to another level for season 2.
Alien: Earth is the first series of the iconic science fiction franchise, Alien. The show takes place two years before the original film. It follows a group of synthetic hybrids who were created by Prodigy Corporation. They consist of terminally ill children whose minds have been transferred from their human bodies to a robotic one, so they can live and potentially become immortal. However, the latter proved to be untrue after a lab accident.
Prodigy originally claimed that this new technology was going to be used to save the lives of people who are dying from illnesses. But, as the show continues, it is made clear that the company's founder had more sinister plans that he is hiding from the public. Alien: Earth season 1 featured a large ensemble cast. The series starred Sydney Chandler (Wendy), Alex Lawther (Joe Hermit), Essie Davis (Dame Sylvia), Samuel Blenkin (Boy Kavalier), Timothy Olyphant (Kirsh), Babou Ceesay (Morrow), Adarsh Gourav (Slightly), Erana James (Curly), Lily Newmark (Nibs), Jonathan Ajayi (Smee), David Rysdahl (Arthur Sylvia), and Adrian Edmondson (Atom Eins).
FX's hit prequel series to the massive Alien franchise has been very secretive about its upcoming chapter. Although new cast members have been announced, several elements regarding Alien: Earth season 2 remain under wraps. From vague filming updates and returning cast to storylines, very little is known.
After many complaints from viewers, one of Alien: Earth's executive producers, David W. Zucker, finally offers fans a few bits of information in an interview with Deadline. He confirmed that filming in London officially began around two weeks ago. Zucker also revealed that the new season will take things up a notch and assured fans that, despite the lack of plot details, the creative team is taking things to another level and that it would be worth the wait when Alien: Earth season 2 finally airs.
Additionally, when asked about several Game of Thrones actors joining the show and whether there are any other additions, Zucker stated that more announcements regarding casting will be released "periodically." He also stated that things will be evolving in major ways. These comments heavily imply that there could be several more big-name actors on board for the second season of Alien: Earth.
There is currently no release date for Alien: Earth season 2 at the time of this article's publication. Season 1 can be streamed in full on Hulu.
