Bringing a new festival to the concert calendar this year, UMF Field hosts the United States Professional Baseball League Fall Music Classic Sept. 18-20.
The ticketed USPBL event is bringing national acts to Utica's ballpark, including a hip-hop legend, local rap stars and one of rock's most famous bass players.
"Buy Me a Boat" singer Chris Janson headlines country night with Julia Cole and Michigan's Mac Watts on Friday, Sept. 18.
Rick Ross with Detroit rappers Trick Trick and Esham — plus up-and-coming Detroit rapper Ishii Qash — are set for Saturday, Sept. 19.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Gene Simmons of the band Kiss headlines the final night on Sunday, Sept. 20, with "Stranglehold" singer Derek St. Holmes and locally based rock band Kaleido opening.
"When we envisioned the Fall Music Classic, we wanted to create much more than a concert series — we wanted an annual event that brings people together through music while celebrating artists who have shaped their genres and generations," said founder and CEO of the USPBL Andy Appleby in a statement. "With Chris Janson, Rick Ross and Gene Simmons headlining our inaugural festival, alongside hometown, rising talent, we've assembled a lineup that reflects the incredible diversity of music. From country and hip-hop to classic rock, this weekend will celebrate Detroit's rich musical heritage while creating an unforgettable experience for fans of every genre."
The concerts will be on a stage on the field, with assigned seating in the stands, general admission on the field and VIP pits in front of the stage. The ballpark holds approximately 4,500.
