North Carolina is seeing fewer rainbow snakes as its population continues to decline due to a lack of food. Now, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) needs your help finding these snakes in the state.
Biologists with the WRC are asking the public to report sightings of these snakes to identify where populations remain strong and determine areas for future monitoring and possible conservation efforts.
Rainbow snakes are restricted to the Coastal Plain and Sandhills regions of North Carolina and are typically found in and around flowing waterways, but are becoming increasingly rare.
