Joey Logano’s dominant victory at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday ended a difficult and 45-race winless stretch. Following the race, FOX broadcaster and the 2014 NASCAR Champion Kevin Harvick reflected on the challenges faced during a prolonged winless streak, drawing from his own experience.

Harvick experienced similar ups and downs during his time as a driver. Despite being one of the most successful NASCAR Cup Series drivers, he went through 115 races without a win before ending his streak at Talladega Superspeedway in 2010.

While recapping the race on the podcast “Speed with Harvick and Buxton.” NASCAR journalist Kaitlyn Vincie questioned Harvick if he related to what Joey Logano was going through.

“Absolutely,” Harvick replied during the episode. “I mean, I’ve been through winning streaks that are 100-plus races, and you know, you go through these moments of time when you’re not running well and when you’re a driver that has won so many races and three Cup Series championships.

“And you still question yourself, and you still question the things that you’re doing. You question your team, you question the decisions that you have made.”

Expanding on the challenges of ending a winless streak, Harvick highlighted the importance of good communication between a driver and his team.

“And I think there’s only a handful of guys in the Cup Series garage that can really get with their team and help change the direction of what the car’s performance is doing. And Joey Logano is one of those,” the 2014 NASCAR Champion added.

With this win, the No. 22 Team Penske driver brought his winless streak to an end. The streak started back in May 2025 after the race at Texas Motor Speedway, marking a turnaround that Logano and the team have been looking for.

Joey Logano thrusts himself into the playoff bubble

Before this weekend, Joey Logano was eight points down in the chase cutoff and sat in 17th place in the NASCAR Cup Series driver championship. However, after the dominant win, he claimed 57 points and currently sits 15th, 49 points above the cutoff line.

During his post-race interview, he spoke about what this win meant in the context of getting into the playoffs. He said (via TNT Sports on X):

“I knew coming into this weekend we got to capitalize on the points. A win is great, but we really needed the points, and so we really capitalized on those tonight.”

Logano also became only the second Ford driver to win a race this season after his Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney.

More practice is gonna hurt the race: 23XI insider calls out NASCAR for giving in to fans’ demands

Many NASCAR fans have welcomed the series’ reported decision to bring back extended practice sessions, but not everyone agrees. 23XI driver Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, has made his feelings known about the same. Earlier this week, The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi reported that the NASCAR Cup Series is expected to get an extended practice session. […]
