Prince Harry reportedly feels he and Meghan Markle will have to grovel to get back into the royal family’s good graces.
According to an insider, the Duke of Sussex is warning his wife that they will have to get over being right if they want to make amends with their relatives.
Harry and Meghan will have to ‘swallow their pride’ over royal rift
Following years of feeling wronged by The Firm, the couple will reportedly have to put their grievances in the past.
“He’s told Meghan they’ve got to swallow their pride,” a source told Closer.
“Follow all directions from King Charles III and his aides and prove they can be trusted. At this point, they really have no other choice,” they noted.
Harry and Meghan have been ‘humbled’ since leaving England
After the couple’s visit with His Majesty and Queen Camilla, Harry and Meghan have reportedly realized that life in America isn’t what they thought it would be.
“Clearly they’ve been pretty humbled by everything that’s happened,” the insider claimed.
“As much as they don’t want to accept it, their only option now is to follow Charles’ rules if they want any hope of rebuilding the relationship,” the source claimed.
Harry knows any ‘mistake’ could come at a ‘huge personal cost’
While the pair’s meeting with Charles and the former Duchess of Cornwall was kept under wraps, any leak could cost Harry and Meghan their reconciliation with the family.
“Harry’s telling Meghan they have to take a serious step back,” the insider said.
“[They’re] trying to keep the ball in their court because this opportunity may never come again, and he knows any mistake could come at a huge personal cost,” they noted.
Meghan ‘knows how much’ reunion with Charles ‘meant’ to Harry
Despite the years of tension, the With Love, Meghan star reportedly put her pride aside for her and Harry’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to see Charles.
“She knows how much this means to Harry and she also sees it’s important for the children and for their future prospects,” a second insider told the outlet.
“It’s a huge adjustment for Meghan in particular because staying quiet and just toeing the line really isn’t in her nature, but she’s reluctantly accepted that’s what has to happen,” the insider said.
