Music star Jelly Roll‘s daughter is pushing back against speculation surrounding her father’s divorce from Bunnie Xo, insisting fans have no idea what really happened between the former couple.
In social media livestream, Bailee Ann DeFord, 18, said the internet will “f**** crumble” when the truth eventually comes out.
Defending her father
Jelly Roll (real name: Jason DeFord) and Bunnie (real name: Alisa DeFord) have both publicly described their split as amicable. In his May divorce filing, the Grammy Award winner cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for his split from the “Dumb Blonde” podcast host, though speculation about what led to the breakup has continued online.
According to Bailee, fans still don’t know the truth behind the surprising split.
During a TikTok Live on July 19, Bailee said, “Don’t y’all ever come for my father’s name like that again. I’m so done. Get the f*** out of my DMs, out of my comments, my live with that s***. I don’t care. I don’t want to talk about it. He did not cheat, she did not cheat.”
‘Wait till y’all find out’
“Y’all have no f****** idea what happened, and wait till y’all find out. Just f****** wait,” Bailee continued. “Because I promise y’all, the view of what y’all have of not only the situation, but their relationship and the internet in totality is about to f****** crumble the day that I open my mouth.”
“It’s not a difference in f****** opinions. Nobody else lived in it, so don’t f****** even. I’m for real so done,” she added.
Bailee had already condemned online speculation about the divorce, calling the public’s fascination with her father and stepmother’s private life “disgusting.”
‘A private family matter’
In a post on TikTok, the teenager wrote, “I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter. It’s … crazy. Go on somewhere y’all. Worry ’bout your house — not mine. I’m not speaking on it — yet.”
Bailee’s mother is Felicia Beckwith, but the musician shared primary custody of her with Bunnie before Bailee turned 18 in May. The singer also has 9-year-old son, Noah Buddy DeFord, with ex Melisa Ann Cowell.
Court documents obtained by TMZ show Jelly Roll and Bunnie settled their split earlier in July and are keeping most details of their split confidential, though it emerged that they’ll split an aircraft, cars, homes and their intellectual properties. The singer also agreed to pay Bunnie a one-time lump sum payment. Both agreed to a provision preventing them from publicly criticizing the other.
More breakup speculation
According to earlier reports, the 41-year-old musician and the 46-year-old podcaster split over their struggles to have children after IVF treatments failed. Others claimed he had not been happy in his marriage for some time, but that his management team urged him to try to make it work.
“With Jelly, his life narrative is as important to his career as the music he makes,” a source said. “His story of being a lifelong jailbird who turned around his life when Bunnie took the reins struck a chord with fans. Ending it would be a career blow.
“Jelly hoped having a child would turn things around, but it just didn’t work out,” the source added. “Now he wants to build a new life and realize his dream of becoming a dad again.”
