Prince George is officially a teenager! The royal family is celebrating the heir to the throne’s 13th birthday, and just dropped an official portrait on Instagram, captioning it with a simple “Happy 13th Birthday, George! 🎉”
The Telegraph spoke to a slew of sources amid George’s milestone birthday who described him as “incredibly down to earth” but also very “aware of his future.”
Apparently, George spends his weekends at various sports games with friends, but also juggles royal appearances with his parents. “No one knows better than William what life is like growing up in the Royal family,” a source said. “He is absolutely determined to get it right.”
A family friend added that when it comes to Prince William and Kate Middleton, “The biggest thing is that it has to be family first. They will serve the institution, but they will also make sure their children are raised with as much normality as possible.”
Another insider explained, “The way they have lived their lives—getting the kids outside, spending time together, focusing on the school run—it’s just as strategic as any other part of their public service. Preparing their children for the lives they are going to lead; it’s central to their roles – it’s not something that’s on the side.”
