Prince George is a teenager! Prince William and Kate Middleton share a new portrait and videos of their eldest son

Princess George, the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton and second in line to the British throne, turns 13 today. To celebrate his birthday, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a new picture of him to their social media accounts.

Unlike Prince Louis’s 8th birthday photo and Princess Charlotte’s 11th birthday photo, the photograph was not taken during a Wales family holiday to Cornwall in April. Instead, Prince George was photographed by Matt Porteous at Kensington Palace following last month’s Trooping the Colour festivities.

A few hours after sharing the photo, the Waleses then kept with their tradition of this year’s birthdays and posted a series of short clips of Prince George, likely filmed during that holiday, showing him playing cricket, on a boat, and exploring with his younger brother Prince Louis:

Prince George’s last public appearance was at the Wimbledon men’s finals earlier this month; he and his sister Princess Charlotte met winner Jannik Sinner after his victory. It was only George’s third public appearance of 2026; he also was also out and about for Trooping the Colour, and for Easter Sunday church services in April. And, while not a public engagement, the Waleses shared photos and videos from a private visit George and Kate carried out to RAF Coningsby, a Royal Air Force Base, in June.

Historically, William and Kate have debuted new photos of their children ahead of their birthdays, sharing the images early with press under embargo, so as to publish in newspapers on the day of the birthday. However, starting with Prince Louis’s sixth birthday in 2024, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a photograph directly on their own social media. As T&C’s Victoria Murphy noted at the time, the change in strategy came following an edited image released by Kensington Palace for Mother’s Day, and in the wake of Kate sharing her cancer diagnosis. The straight-to-social-media strategy has continued ever since.

This fall, Prince George is set to attend the all-boys boarding school Eton College, following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry.

JD Vance is renting a sprawling property in an exclusive Virginia enclave for his growing family

It’s not the White House, but it sure is a nice retreat away from the District. Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha and their four children are moving to the country. But don’t expect a “Hillbilly Elegy” kind of hardscrabble country existence. Instead, the Second Family — who welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel, on Sunday — are moving to Middleburg, Va. That’s the “horse and hunt” capital of America, and one of the most elite,...
