An off-duty police officer has been charged with causing the death of a teenage boy who was killed in an e-bike crash.
Ryley Hutson, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene after an incident involving an electric bike and two cars.
Emergency services were called to Chilwell Lane in Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, at around 10am on September 28 last year.
Daniel Cartwright, 31, of Kettering, Northamptonshire, who is a serving police officer with Bedfordshire Police and was off-duty at the time of the collision, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
He is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on August 6.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: 'This was a tragic incident which has had a devastating impact on Ryley's family.
'They have been updated about this important step in our investigation, and our thoughts remain with them.'
'Our world has been shattered by the heart-breaking loss of 16-year-old Ryley, who tragically passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident,' she said.
'Ryley was full of life, laughter, and love - a cheeky soul who left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.'
