During the 15th stage of the Tour de France to the Plateau de Solaison, Briton Tom Pidcock (Pinarello-Q36.5) was handed a 20-second penalty for taking a push from a race car.

In recent days, Tom Pidcock has kept making himself noticed. Often in the breakaways, the Briton is trying as best he can to find that stage win that has eluded him. But his ninth place overall does not make things any easier and prevents him from having enough room to maneuver to divert the favorites' attention.

During this 15th stage won by Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), Tom Pidcock also stood out by picking up penalties. The Pinarello-Q36.5 rider was sanctioned twice with 10 seconds for two sticky bottles from a race car. The Olympic mountain bike champion also loses 30 UCI points, 8 points in the king of the mountains classification and is fined 400 Swiss francs.

Ahead of the Thonon time trial this Tuesday, Tom Pidcock is still ninth overall, 11 min 19 behind Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates-XRG).
