Tuesday's game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers figures to be a great one between two talented squads.
The Dodgers are in sole possession of first place in the National League West while the Phillies sit in second place in their own division, chasing the Atlanta Braves.
Both teams faced off in last year's National League Division Series, with the Phillies losing to the Dodgers in four games, so there is history between these two clubs in October.
The Phillies took Monday's series opener against Los Angeles in a 10-7 slugfest and will have a chance to take the series Tuesday with right-hander Zack Wheeler on the bump, who will face off against Dodgers breakout left-hander Justin Wrobleski.
However, both starters will have to adjust their routines ahead of their starts. Due to weather conditions, the game will not begin on time.
"ATTN FANS: Tonight's game will begin in a delay. We expect conditions to improve and plan to play tonight's game. A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for the area. Please do not travel until conditions are safe and you are able to do so," the Phillies announced on X.
The two teams clearly still plan on playing, but given the amount of rain falling near the stadium, MLB has decided to suspend play until it is safe for everyone to attend.
Further updates on the situation will be provided as conditions develop. There is a possibility Tuesday's matchup is rained out and the two sides could play in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
