Pet owners can now fill up prescription medication for their dogs and cats at CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide, CVS Health announced Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Pet owners can now fill up prescription medication for their dogs and cats at CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide, CVS Health announced Tuesday.

In a news release, CVS Pharmacy said it will dispense select pet-only medications, including antibiotics, allergy, flea and tick control, insulin and pain relievers. The company has more than 9,000 locations across the country.

“We’re proud to be a trusted partner in our patients’ health care journeys,” Sid Tenneti, senior vice president and interim president of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness at CVS Health, said in the release. “With the addition of pet medication dispensing, CVS Pharmacy can now serve every member of the family. Combined with our convenient locations, extended hours, and broad range of health and wellness products, we offer a true one-stop destination for care.”

Pet prescriptions are also eligible for many of the same pharmacy services as their owners, such as automatic refills and prescription syncing. Some medications may be available for delivery as well.

If pet owners wish to fill their pet’s medication at CVS Pharmacy, they must present a written prescription or ask their veterinarian to contact the pharmacy directly. Owners can then choose to pick it up in-store or have it delivered if eligible.

Pet owners can add pets to their profile through the CVS website and manage eligible pet prescriptions through the CVS Health app.

CVS Health is joining multiple other stores that offer pet medications, such as Costco, Walgreens, Walmart and Publix.
