It might only be July, but ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum believes that one team has to win the national title in January to avoid its season being labeled a failure.
Speaking on "Get Up," Finebaum was pretty clear in his delivery about Texas' mission this season after host Mike Greenberg asked him whether it was title or bust for the Longhorns.
"It is yes. You don't get to this point with one of the most celebrated players in modern college football history and lay an egg like Texas did last year," Finebaum said, referring to Arch Manning and the early season stumbles the Longhorns had in 2025.
Finebaum continued his response and spoke about the roster around Manning.
"They not only have Arch Manning, they have so many amazing players that they picked up in the portal. They have one of the best rosters, if not the best in college football. Certainly the best in the SEC, they have to get to the title game."
The Longhorns can vanquish some of the demons from last season on September 12 in a home game against Ohio State, whom they lost to at the Horseshoe to begin the 2025 campaign.
