President Donald Trump was blasted on social media after he participated in the return of the remains of four U.S. service members killed in the Middle East, telling the press that the service members said that Iran shouldn't have a nuclear weapon.
Arriving at Dover Air Force Base, Trump claimed, “We are going to Dover to honor our heroes. All of them said very strongly we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.
His comments were automatically picked apart online. One X user wrote, "So now he speaks to the dead…" in response to a video of Trump's statement about the returning soldiers.

Another user added, "This is his demented way of having imaginary conversations with people he never met or nonexistent citizens to inflate his narcissistic self-worth as a leader." A third chimed in, "Can we have just one day where he doesn't make up crap? Never mind!"
Asked for his message to their families before he departed Joint Base Andrews, Trump said, “All I’m going to say is, ‘we love you. We love your child.’”
“All you can do is throw out your heart,” he said.
The soldiers were identified as: 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, Army Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Spring Lake, North Carolina.
Since the war began on Feb. 28, 18 U.S. service members have been killed.
The ritual is one of the most somber duties of a commander-in-chief. It will be the third that Trump has attended since he launched the war in Iran in February.
Two U.S. Army soldiers killed in Iranian missile and drone attacks in Jordan will be returned during the dignified transfer, an administration official who was not authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity said before the event.
The remains of a third service member who is believed to be the soldier missing after the Jordan attacks will also be returned, the official said, as well as the remains of a soldier killed in Iraq during a detonation of an Iranian drone.
“We feel very badly, but you know, those great people, those great patriots were out there fighting so that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told reporters on Sunday. He added that the U.S. was striking Iran “in honor” of the fallen troops.
Trump on Monday said that every time Iran kills an American soldier, “they will pay for that killing many times over!” Trump on Tuesday said that while almost all the incoming fire in Jordan was stopped, some made it through.
