Devil Fruits have always been the core of One Piece's power system. In the Final Saga of the series, which officially began on August 29, 2022, with the release of One Piece Chapter 1058, newer and stronger abilities are being introduced one after another. Right now,One Piece is in the climax of the Elbaf Arc, and it saw the release of Chapter 1188 on July 12, 2026.
The series has now lined up the definitive 3 strongest Devil Fruits of all time. One of them is wielded by Monkey D. Luffy in the form of Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. The other two are equally dangerous abilities, if not even stronger, and are wielded by two of the most prominent villains in the entire series: Nerona Imu, the King of the World, and Blackbeard.
One Piece Chapter 1188 Officially Confirmed The Strongest God Fruit In The World
On April 5, 2026, Nerona Imu made his descent in Elbaf in One Piece Chapter 1179, which was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #19. In this chapter, it was officially confirmed to us that Nerona Imu wielded the power of the Akuma no Mi, which is a unique Devil Fruit granting the power of God's Domination. The abilities of this Devil Fruit were showcased to us one by one in the subsequent battles that began in One Piece Chapter 1180 and continued all the way up to One Piece Chapter 1188, with no end in sight at the moment.
Nerona Imu's Akuma no Mi is quite clearly the strongest Devil Fruit to exist in the entirety of One Piece. This Devil Fruit grants Imu a unique transformation, turning him into the Devil God of the One Piece world. Nerona Imu develops tanned skin, giant horns, and black wings, as well as gaining a powerful weapon. Imu also showcased the ability to wield a spell book while in Gunko’s body and, above all, the power to manipulate the black flames of Omen, which were officially unveiled for the first time in One Piece Chapter 1180 and explained in One Piece Chapter 1181 on April 27, 2026.
Loki: So your power is God's Domination? I think you mean a contract with the devil!
Imu: God? Devil? What is the difference?
— Imu shows his power of God's Domination, One Piece Chapter #1181
With the power of the Akuma no Mi, Nerona Imu was able to defeat multiple people in quick succession, starting with Roronoa Zoro, followed by Hajirudin and Sanji, then taking on Loki in battle in Chapter 1180. One Piece Chapter 1188, which was released on July 12, 2026, saw Imu face off against and defeat Monkey D. Luffy as well. Any Devil Fruit that grants one the power to pull something like this off is quite easily the strongest in the entirety of the series, and it makes sense for the King of the World to possess such an ability.
"Of course I know that thou art not Joy Boy! Joy Boy was not this weak!!" — Nerona Imu defeats Luffy, One Piece Chapter #1188
Why Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika Stands As The Second-Strongest Fruit Right Now
Alongside Nerona Imu's Akuma no Mi, there is also Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This Devil Fruit is incredibly powerful, as it allows Luffy to transform into the Warrior of Liberation and fight with freewheeling combat to pull off anything that he can imagine, even if it breaks the natural laws of the world. Luffy's Nika Fruit allows him to transform into Gear 5 when he taps into the Awakening, and it grants him an incredibly powerful transformation that saw him defeat Kaido in One Piece Chapter 1049 on May 16, 2022, and even overwhelm the likes of Kizaru, as seen officially in One Piece Chapter 1094.
"Possessing a body with the powers of rubber, and fighting in whatever way he fancies, bringing smiles to the faces of people, the Warrior of Liberation...also known as the Sun God, Nika!" — Oda introduces Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, in One Piece Chapter #1044
Even though Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is not comparable to Imu at the moment, there is most certainly going to be an evolution that will follow in the future. At the moment, Luffy has not fully managed to tap into the true powers of his Devil Fruit, and this is clear from the fact that Nerona Imu was able to overwhelm him and call him way too weak compared to Joy Boy. If Joy Boy was strong enough to handle Nerona Imu in battle and even put immense fear in him, then we can rest assured that this Devil Fruit in itself is very powerful and Luffy simply hasn't tapped into its full potential yet. In other words, Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, can still be counted amongst the best Devil Fruits to exist in the One Piece world.
Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi Can Cancel All Devil Fruit Abilities
Finally, among the strongest Devil Fruits, there is Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi. This Devil Fruit was officially confirmed to be the strongest ability in One Piece Chapter 441, but it is often underrated because Blackbeard doesn't get much focus in the story. Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi allows him to control darkness itself and use abilities, such as Black Hole, which can suck in everything and crush it under immense gravitational pressure. Above all, this Devil Fruit allows Teach to cancel the Devil Fruit abilities of others upon contact. With such a dangerous ability, even Akuma no Mi or Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika wouldn't be safe from this fruit.
"You can't kill me. This power is said to be the most dangerous of all the abilities that exist. With this ability, I've become the strongest!" — Blackbeard confirms Yami Yami no Mi is considered the strongest, One Piece Chapter #441
Even though Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi has its own weaknesses, some of which were exposed by Whitebeard himself, this Devil Fruit is still incredibly deadly. If this Devil Fruit is awakened, it has a chance of becoming the absolute strongest fruit in the One Piece world. For now, its Awakening has not been shown, and we do not know if Eiichiro Oda will allow him the chance to awaken this ability and take it a step beyond. Regardless, it is a deadly ability which we are eagerly waiting to see more of in the future of One Piece. Alongside the Akuma no Mi and the Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika, this ability stands as one of One Piece's absolute strongest.
Following the events of One Piece's Elbaf arc, we are likely to see glimpses of Blackbeard on the move, especially if he was responsible for the attack on Marijoa, which was officially confirmed to us in One Piece Chapter 1049 on May 26, 2025, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26. If that truly is the case, then we have a golden opportunity to witness the full extent of the powers of the Yami Yami no Mi following the two-year timeskip.
