Number of Cyclospora cases in Connecticut continue to rise

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The number of Cyclospora cases reported in Connecticut this year continues to rise, according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

As of Tuesday, July 21, the total number of cases stands at 60. Of those, DPH officials said four cases have required hospitalization.

Health officials said 25 cases were domestically acquired, six were internationally acquired, and 29 came from an unknown source.

The location breakdown includes:

• Capitol Planning Region: 7
• Greater Bridgeport Planning Region: 3
• Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region: 1
• Naugatuck Valley Planning Region: 2
• Northeastern Connecticut Planning Region: 1
• Northwest Hills Planning Region: 4
• South Central Connecticut Planning Region: 10
• Southeastern Connecticut Planning Region: 2
• Western Connecticut Planning Region: 30
