Lily Allen has announced that a new documentary about her life is in the works.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that a feature-length doc “offering an intimate portrait” of the West End Girl singer’s rise to fame and life in the spotlight would come to Amazon Prime Video next year.
An official press release has teased: “The retrospective documentary will chart Lily’s extraordinary journey, from the ‘Queen of MySpace’ who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today.
“As a pioneering woman in modern music, Lily’s sharp wit and candid storytelling directly paved the way for a generation of today’s biggest female artists.
“Featuring interviews with those who know her best, the documentary builds a rich and revealing portrait of an artist defined by her creative fearlessness.”
The release adds: “This is a story of resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms. This is Lily Allen as she’s never been seen before. Raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.”
Lily shot to fame in the late 2000s with hits including Smile, LDN and The Fear.
In 2018, she released the memoir My Thoughts Exactly, in which she reflected on her rapid ascent to worldwide household name status, the media scrutiny she’s experienced in the years since and various moments from her personal life, including her first marriage to Sam Cooper, parenting her two daughters, the birth of her stillborn son and a stalking ordeal.
More recently, she received widespread acclaim for her candid fifth album, West End Girl, which is thought to have taken inspiration from the end of her second marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
Lily recently wrapped the European leg of her West End Girl world tour with a show at London’s O2 Arena, ahead of taking the show to North America, Australia and New Zealand later this year.
