The makers of the Tamil film Hi, starring Nayanthara and Kavin, announced the film's release date on July 20. Sharing a teaser, the team confirmed that the romantic drama will hit theatres on August 14. The film is set for a box-office clash with Suriya's Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Lucky Bhaskar filmmaker Venky Atluri.

Directed by lyricist-turned-filmmaker Vishnu Edavan in his directorial debut, Hi marks his first venture behind the camera after earning recognition for penning popular songs such as Polakatum Para Para from Master and Badass from Leo.

While the makers are yet to unveil an official synopsis, the teaser and posters released so far suggest that the story revolves around two neighbours who gradually develop feelings for each other. The promotional material hints at a light-hearted romantic drama, with Nayanthara and Kavin's characters appearing to share a warm and playful relationship.

The newly released teaser offers a glimpse into the film's romantic tone, introducing the lead pair and teasing the chemistry that forms the core of the narrative. The visuals indicate that romance will be at the heart of the story, although the makers have chosen to keep key plot details under wraps.

Apart from Nayanthara and Kavin, the film features an ensemble cast including Bhagyaraj, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan, Adithya Kathir, Kureshi, FEFSI Vijayan, Kaavya Arivumani and Mirchi Kemy.

The film's music has been composed by Jen Martin. The technical crew includes cinematographer Rajesh Shukla, editor Philomin Raj and art director Sekar B.

Hi is being produced by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan under their banner Rowdy Pictures, in association with SS Lalit Kumar's Seven Screen Studio and Zee Studios.

The August 14 release sets up an interesting clash at the Tamil box office, with Hi arriving alongside Suriya's Vishwanath and Sons. Directed by Venky Atluri, the family drama is one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year, making Independence Day weekend a significant battleground for both films.
