Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" has been one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, and its opening-weekend performance reflects that: The director's 13th theatrical release grossed $264 million worldwide.

Why Christopher Nolan encourages moviegoers to see 'The Odyssey' in 70mm IMAX
Nolan says that IMAX provides the most immersive viewing experience because of an IMAX's sheer scale and clear picture.
"It immerses you. The image is so sharp, the color is so clear. It's so much the way your eyes see the world," Nolan told CBS as why the film should be seen on IMAX. "It fills your peripheral vision when it's on the biggest screen possible."
Before the release of his 2023 film, "Oppenheimer," which was largely filmed on IMAX, Nolan articulated a similar notion.
“The headline, for me, is by shooting on IMAX 70mm film, you’re really letting the screen disappear. You’re getting a feeling of 3D without the glasses. You’ve got a huge screen and you’re filling the peripheral vision of the audience. You’re immersing them in the world of the film."
A standard film strip is 35mm, 70mm is physically bigger and provides a higher resolution picture. By seeing "The Odyssey" in 70mm IMAX, you're seeing more of the frame than you would in a normal theater and image itself looks better.
Where can Nashvillians see 'The Odyssey' in 70mm IMAX?
According to IMAX Near Me, there are only four movie theaters with IMAX screens in Tennessee, and only one of them is a true 70mm IMAX projector.
