CHELMSFORD, Mass. - NASCAR’s gaming franchise is preparing for its next green flag.

iRacing Studios and NASCAR announced Tuesday that NASCAR 26 will launch Sept. 18 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, bringing a host of new features designed to expand the realism and accessibility of the sport’s flagship video game. The title will feature NASCAR star Kyle Larson on the cover and once again include the NASCAR Cup Series, O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series.

At the center of this year’s release is a new dynamic track system, which allows racing surfaces to evolve over the course of a race weekend. According to developers, the feature will change vehicle handling as conditions progress, adding a layer of strategy and realism that mirrors real-world NASCAR competition.

The announcement was accompanied by a developer diary video that offers fans an early look at the game’s new additions

The game represents the second standalone NASCAR console title produced by iRacing Studios following the release of NASCAR 25 last year. Developers say NASCAR 26 builds upon that foundation with improvements across nearly every aspect of the experience.

In addition to dynamic tracks, players can expect cross-platform multiplayer, allowing racers on different gaming systems to compete against each other. Other additions include burnouts, an updated driving model, new tracks and further refinements to the game’s Career Mode. Additional gameplay features will be revealed next week when the first official gameplay trailer debuts.

The release comes as iRacing continues expanding its influence within NASCAR. The simulation platform has become a major fixture in stock-car racing, serving everyone from casual gamers to professional drivers who use its software for training and preparation.

By placing Larson on the cover, NASCAR 26 also highlights one of the sport’s biggest stars. The Hendrick Motorsports driver enters the season as one of NASCAR’s premier talents and a former Brickyard 400 winner, making him a fitting face for the latest installment.

Fans will have two purchasing options when the game becomes available.

A Standard Edition and a Gold Edition will be released across all platforms. Players who purchase the Gold Edition will receive three days of early access beginning Sept. 15, ahead of the game’s worldwide launch on Sept. 18. Additional details regarding pricing, preorder incentives and Gold Edition content will be unveiled July 29 alongside the gameplay trailer.

For NASCAR gaming fans, the emphasis appears to be on giving players a deeper and more authentic race weekend experience.

The addition of changing track conditions could be especially significant. Real NASCAR races often see dramatic swings in grip and handling as temperatures change and rubber builds up on the racing surface. Replicating those conditions in a console racing game represents one of the largest realism-focused additions ever implemented in the franchise.
