How does new Michigan State football starting quarterback Alessio Milivojevic compare to his peers in the Big Ten? The Athletic has answered that question in their preseason tiers rankings of quarterbacks.

The Athletic released their tiers for all of the expected starting quarterbacks in the country, with the Spartans signal caller landing in one of the lower tiers. Milivojevic landed in The Athletic's sixth tier out of seven possible tiers.

Here's how The Athletic described the sixth tier for their preseason rankings:

"Former Power 4 blue-chip recruits who have found new homes and are trying to make the most of their new opportunities, plus some veterans who have not put it all together yet and young QBs with bright futures who are just now getting their chance. And there are a lot of quality Group of 6 QBs teams can win with."

Among the actual rankings, Milivojevic landed as the No. 69 overall quarterback in the country in the rankings. That was one spot ahead of former Spartans starting quarterback Aidan Chiles, who is set to continue his career at Northwestern this fall.

In the article, Milivojevic received some positive praise from an unnamed assistant coach that worked in the Big Ten last year.

"Can spin it, sharp and all that. I think the only concern is athletically, being able to get out of the way,” said an assistant coach in the article. “I think he has a chance to be a good one. It’s just how well they’re going to be able to protect him, how well they’ll be able to run the ball to make it easier on him.”

Milivojevic will need to be for the Spartans to get back on track. He had a strong finish to the end of last year, and I personally believe he could be in for a solid season.
