NORTH HAVEN - A 17-year-old Connecticut resident suffered injuries Sunday after ignoring a highway closure, which was closed due to a wreck earlier in the day, and then crashing, state police said.
The Wallingford resident struck an unoccupied Department of Transportation vehicle, was thrown from the bike and hit a guardrail post, Connecticut State Police said. The motorcyclist was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital by ambulance for injuries he sustained, police said.
Police said Interstate 91 north had been closed by Exit 13 because of a motorcycle crash earlier Sunday that caused serious injuries. The later crash happened around 8:35 p.m., police said, and no other injuries were reported from it.
The crash remains under investigation, police said. The severity of injuries in the second crash was not immediately clear.
