Morgan Fairchild is sharing details from the first time she met the late Paul Reubens — both the comedian himself and his iconic alter-ego, Pee-Wee Herman.
In an interview on The Patrick LabyorSheaux, Fairchild recounted how she met Reubens when he was an up-and-coming performer participating in a comedy night she was hosting.
“I met Paul hosting Night at the Improv, and in the afternoon everybody came in to rehearse and all the older comedians and at the end, this guy comes in, younger guy, you know, and just says, ‘I’m not going to run through my act, but I just wanted to come and let you know whatever happens, I won’t hurt you,’ ” she recalled.

She continued: “And I’m like, ‘Okay, okay.’ So that night he comes out as Pee-Wee, who I’d never seen before and has a paper bag of spiders and snakes and is throwing things at me and again, I’m improvising with him, and so we became great friends.”
“He came over after, he says, ‘You’re the only one who gets me. You’re the only one. You just went with it. Everybody freaks out. You just went with it,’ ” Fairchild added.

Later, Fairchild received a call from Reubens saying, “We have Mr. Peewee Herman on the line.”
“And I got on the line. I said, ‘Paul, I know your real name.’ He said, ‘Well, I got a favor. I got a favor. ... I’ve got my first movie.’ I said, ‘Great.’ And he said, ‘But uh we don’t have any money. We’re on a shoestring budget, and we need some celebrity cameos, and everybody’s turned us down,’ ” Fairchild said.
She added: “And I said, ‘Okay, don’t tell everybody that everyone’s already turned you down... When do you need me?’ And he said, ‘Thursday.’ And so I said, ‘Let me let me call Falcon Crest.’ ”
Fairchild was starring on the campy drama series at the time, but was still able to film a cameo for Reubens’ 1985 cult classic film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, in which she played Dottie, the wife of the president played by actor James Brolin.
